Happy Sunday friends! So the last time I wrote I went into Alan and I’s backstory in regards to our why. Our stories were significantly different yet, the outcome was the same…we both had to do something to help care for orphans & raise awareness into the world of human trafficking. My personal belief is that it is easy to turn our head and heart to those who don’t have a voice when we don’t know a lot about it. However, once light is shed on this dark, evil world it becomes a lot harder. Recently, I came across some statistics that broke my heart…
- Since 2007, the National Human Trafficking Hotline reports there are 22,191 sex trafficking cases in the US alone.
- In 2016 the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children estimate 1 in 6 endangered runaways were likely sex trafficking victims.
- Globally, the International Labor Organization estimates that there are 4.5 million people trapped in forced sexual exploitation around the world.
- In 2014 the Urban Institute estimated that the underground sex economy ranged from $39.9 million in Denver to $290 million in Atlanta.
You can’t save the world, but you can save one person.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and being open to helping us change peoples lives one person at a time. Next week we will look at some tangible ways you can make a difference and make your voice heard.
Have a great week!
